Christmas In July

Brother Knights:

Today, 31 July, at ARC Camp Sun 'N Fun "Christmas in July" festivities, Council 6173 received accolades for our assistance in their projects.

Earlier this year the Council conducted a fund Drive for Persons with Developmental Disabilities. As a result we were able to present a check for over $2,700 to ARC - Gloucester for their "Campership" program. This means we were able to help about 5 Special Needs children spend a week at the camp.

Special Needs: Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, Epilepsy, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, Limited Mobility, Speech/Communication Impairment, Spina Bifida, Visual Impairment/Blind

I have put some pictures of today's activities on our Council web site for you to review.

As you look at them and see the joy in the campers faces as they put on their skits or show off their decorated cabins, or the pride that you can see in their parents face as their child is on the stage, I would like you to remember that today, somewhere else in the United States, (including Cherry Hill) a child with an identical illness is being legally killed. (But then that's the mother's "choice").

If they survive birth, then depending upon the State, they still maybe legally killed (poor choice of words) the popular term is "put to sleep".

If they are fortunate enough to not live in Montana, Oregon, Texas, or Washington; they still have to face the new health care bill being touted as "best thing since sliced bread" by some politicians, today.

Just something to think about when asked to make another phone call to your legislator, or next year when our Council Chairman asks for someone to stand for 2 hours at the Acme.
