COLUMBIAN YEAR 2008-2009 |
Brothers:
Please forgive me … I just want to recap this past Columbian year, its achievements and some areas where we need to improve. Our outlined programs were completed in a fantastic fashion, thanks to all of our Brothers who assisted
In August 2008
Our council’s Installation of officers was held with a wonderful reception afterwards at the St. Thomas More Chapel.
Our Membership Chairman DGK Marty Hahn. Sr. scheduled our membership drives at The Little Servant Sisters Picnic and also at STM Parish festival resulting in 2 new members.

In September 2008
The Church of St. Mary, our pulpit announcement for new membership accounted for an additional new member.
St. Thomas More, pulpit announcement for new membership accounted for 5 additional new members
So you can see the results our efforts have proven to be successful. There is one note of concern that goes with this good news, it is always the same Brothers that step up and support these vital efforts. Please take a few moments from your busy responsibilities and assist your Council in achieving these important goals.
In October & November 2008
We again held our ”Roses for Life” fundraisers at The Church of St Mary & St. Thomas More Parishes, as always this program was successful , with the funds being distributed to right to life programs in Camden County.
In December 2008
We held our annual Christmas Party at the St. Mary’s home for the Elderly with a lot of singing and tomfoolery that had a smile on everyone face.
On a disappointing note our council Christmas party was not held due to lack of interest.
These events would not have been successful without the support of PGK’s Walt Reighn, Al Mac Elrath, Joe Murray, Tom Wakeley, Mark Wellner, Joe Rosito, Joe Knecht, Dave Czerniakowski, DGK Marty Hahn, Dick Haughwout, Bob Huster, FS Henry Glover, Ed Ventura, Brian Haughwout, Tom Scardefield, Donna Reighn, Donna Wakeley, Brenda Scardefield, Maria Hahn, Ellie Perrotto and Ricki Murray.
In February 2009
PGK & Youth Committee Chairman Mark Wellner completed the Council Spelling Bee contest with the able assistance of PGK Tom Wakeley as moderator and DGK Marty Hahn & FS Henry Glover as the judges. PGK Al Mac Elrath with his trusty camera recorded this wonderful program.
In March 2009
Our spring Membership drive at St. Mary’s & St. Thomas More commenced with 2 new members.
In April 2009
Once again Palm Sunday Breakfast at the Church of St. Mary was a rousing success, supported by our able Chefs, Mike Ciarroccki, Caesar Cosenza, Angelo Cardone, Walt Reighn, Marty Keoughan and Maria Ciarroccki, with Al Mac Elrath presenting our new Audio Visual presentation of our Council activities.
Our Intellectually Challenged Citizens Drive, Chaired by DGK Marty Hahn, attained the goals set forth and attained a 15% increase over last year. Once again, nothing would be successful without the assistance of our Brothers and their families.
In May 2009
Our 2009 - 2010 slate of officers were nominated and in June 2009 the election of these nominees.
This is a brief recap of what our council accomplished in the 2008-2009 Columbian year. Again my personal thanks for a job well done by all.
BUT… I guess there is always a but we can never sit back and pat ourselves on the back we must look forward to the 2009-2010 Columbian year ahead of us. We again must continue to recruit new members and continue our fight against complacency and renew our battles against Abortion, same sex marriage.
Vivat Jesus;
Chick Perrotto
